CHRISTINA KRUSE / SLEEK EDITION No 1 SCARF
What you see here is the first sleek edition scarf. Wow, you might think, now what an innovative idea, as if almost every art magazine in the world doesn’t offer editions. Well, that’s exactly what we thought as well. And that’s why we decided to do things a bit differently. After all, our magazine deals not only with art but also fashion, and the creators of sleek like to wear the art on their bodies sometimes. That’s what this edition is made for: a silk scarf created by Christina Kruse, who is both an international top model and an artist and thus knows how to handle the art-fashion-balancing act. In her design, she broaches the issue of different perspectives on body perception. If you don’t want to wear it, no problem – just frame it.

AMIRA FRITZ / EXHIBITIONS IN BERLIN AND PARIS
Our newbie Amira Fritz is having two exhibitions to be announced at once! First, she’ll have a vernissage in Paris:
AMIRA FRITZ – EXPOSITION PHOTOGRAPHIQUE – PRÊT-À-PORTER FÉMININ
The French “Fédération Française du Prêt-à-Porter Féminin” hosts – for the first time in Paris – a set of images taken by the young fashion photographer, Amira Fritz on the occasion of an exhibition from September 27th to November 30th.

AMIRA FRITZ – UNTEN DRUNTER – GALERIE FÜR MODERNE FOTOGRAFIE
The “Galerie für Moderne Fotografie” is a place specialized on contemporary “modern” photography and will present at the show called “unten drunter” meaning something like “under-neath” works from the series “Fuchs und Gans (“Fox and Goose”) as well as a selection of her family portraits.
The selection is ought to concentrate on the ambivalency in Amiras harmony-eroding picture language.

Markus Pritzi and stylist Isabelle Thiry reunited for the latest edition of Sleek magazine. Staging a dynamic story with Peter Bruder, the creative duo turn out a captivating photo shoot where beauty rests under a gritty surface. The spread is called “ganz unten” and more or less aesthetically introduces the succeeding article wich is called “dress to depress” exploring the pathetical dimensions of nowadays questionable fashion habits, where people more or less just seem to try to excel themselves in the attempts to look as gritty and trashy as possible.

PETER RIGAUD / STERN HANS ZISCHLER
Peter Rigaud had the opportunity to meet Hans Zischler who turns out not just to be this great, internationally renowned German actor but lately turned his passion for nature studies into a fascinating project. With the help of an old suitcase of a german scientist who lost this collection at the beginning of WW2 he goes on a journey through history to explore a hobby that has been existing for many centuries now and still fascinates a lot of people: collecting butterflies. Zischler found the collectionin in the archives of the nature study museum in Berlin and soon decided he’d have to make something out of that. Together with a young illustrator named Hanna Zeckau they managed to transmute all those colorful butterflies into a literary suitcase called “der Schmetterlingskoffer”.

CHRISTINA KRUSE / CATWALK VIDEO THREEASFOUR
Shotview Artist and Muse of many photographers and designers Christina Kruse was assigned by the hip New York based label threeasfour to do the catwalk visuals for the presentation of their upcoming S/S2011 Collection. Christinas unconventional approach once more paid of tremendously as she collaborated with Seth Carnes for this mind blowing work that was screened during the catwalk show of threeasfour on September 14th 2010 at Sarah Roosevelt Park NYC.
Christina is a comprehensively working artist in photography, film and on canvas, one of her central topics is the human standart ideal of beauty from wich she is departing humorously in her works.

JEAN-FRANCOIS CARLY / SANG BLEU MAGAZINE & FREE PROJECT WORK “SNAKES”
Belgian born photographer Jean-Francois Carly moved to London in the late 90s, and has since been working irresistibly in fashion and portrait photography. The camera in question, a simple point and shoot affair since his childhood, sparked a curiosity and desire that has not faded to this day, culminating in an ever growing collection of photographs, primarily fashion focused.
Jean has contributed for magazines such as Arena Homme Plus, Harpers Bazaar, Qvest, V magazine, Vogue Homme International to name a few. He has also produced numerous short fashion films for Showstudio, Maison Martin Margiela and has showed at The British Film Institute, The V&A, The Institute of Contemporary Art London.
Today we’d like to show you how he applies his very special painterly style of image construction first in an assignement for the art/tattoo/fashion-orientated Sang Bleu Magazine for wich he made the tattoo portraits and in the other examples in a free project, where he created these mind blowing snake-series!

ALEX AIKIU / VIDEORELEASE THE AIKIU “JUST CAN’T SLEEP”
As we announced before, Alex Aikiu is not only a very talented stylist, but also a super musician! Now the video to the hit “Just Can’t Sleep” has been released. Watch the official video for The Aikiu’s first EP, launched on the French label Abracada on June 14. The EP features remixes by Azari & III, Mighty Mouse, Clement Meyer and Egyptrixx.
ERWIN WURM / EXHIBITION »PRIVATE WURM« AT THE ESSL MUSEUM VIENNA
In the exhibition »Private Wurm« at the Essl Museum, Erwin Wurm reveals through a reproduction of his
parents’ house that he comes from literally narrow circumstances. On the occasion of the soon opening show, Sleek Magazine published an interview with Erwin Wurm to find out more about his backgrounds and origins – unavailingly as the interviewer bewails in the october issue of the Berlin magazine.
